STEDY CLASSES CLOSED - March 16th - March 27th. STEDY OFFICE REMAINS OPEN.

Dear STEDY Parents and Students,

As of 4:00 PM on Sunday March 15, 2020, Governor Doug Ducey and State Superintendent Kathy Hoffman jointly announced the closure of all Arizona schools from Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020:

This includes all of the Southwest Technical Education District of Yuma (STEDY) programs, at our the STEDY Central campus as well as the STEDY Programs and classes at Arizona Western College (AWC).

STEDY shares the same priority of the Governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction to keep students and families safe.

The Governor and those at the Arizona Department of Education will continue to work together and assess this situation on a 24/7 basis. During this time, the Arizona Department of Education will continue to develop and share guidance to schools regarding instructional time, statewide testing, provision of special education services, school meals, and more. Information from the Arizona Department of Education can be found at:

https://www.azed.gov/communications/2020/03/10/guidance-to-schools-on-covid-19/

This will take STEDY students up to the regularly scheduled spring break, the week of March 30th through April 3rd. STEDY will be on break at that time. STEDY will be assessing the situation through the week of March 30 – April 3 to determine:

  • When classes will resume.
  • The need to extend the school year.
  • Schedule for certification testing.
  • Priorities provided to students expecting to graduate this year.

THE STEDY OFFICE WILL REMAIN OPEN DURING THIS TIME. We will be available to take phone calls, greet walk in’s to answer questions and provide information to the best of our ability during this fluid situation.

You can reach us at (928) 366-5884. Additionally, we will be making regular post to our social media accounts (@STEDYaz) and on our website www.STEDYcte.org.

Respectfully,

C. Kevin Imes
Superintendent
Southwest Technical Education District of Yuma
