About STEDY
What is STEDY?
STEDY is the Southwest Technical Education District of Yuma. We are a career and technical education (CTE) public high school district. We serve ALL high school students enrolled in public, private, and charter schools by providing them with CTE educational experiences that lead to an industry-recognized certification. All courses offered by STEDY are approved by the Career and Technical Education Division (CTE) of the Arizona Department of Education.
Student Eligibility
You are eligible to enroll in a STEDY program if:
- High school sophomore or junior who attends traditional public, charter, private, or home-school.
- Have a Grade point average of 2.0+ and are on track with your credits/classes toward graduation.
- Have a history of good attendance.
- Resident of Yuma County; Dateland, Gadsden, San Luis, Somerton, Tacna, Wellton, Yuma, etc.
- Able to commit to a 2-year program.
- YCAT passes are provided where routes are available; otherwise, transportation is the responsibility of the student.

A Block
Monday – Thursday
- 1:20 PM – 3:50 PM – Medical Assisting II, Digital Animation II
- 1:20 PM – 4:20 PM – Cosmetology Hairstyling II
B Block
Monday – Thursday
- 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM – Medical Assisting I, Digital Animation I
- 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM – Cosmetology Hairstyling I

Program Costs
STEDY programs are available to eligible high school students at no cost. For programs held at Arizona Western College or Northern Arizona University, STEDY covers the full cost of tuition and fees. Textbooks and classroom materials are included for all programs.
YCAT bus passes are provided where routes are available; in areas without service, transportation is the student's responsibility.
Annual non-refundable program fee:

Medical Assisting and Cosmetology Hairstyling: $50.00

All other programs: $25.00
Fee waivers are available for students facing financial hardship. Contact STEDY administration to request a waiver.
Program Grades, Certifications & Credits
Students earn school letter grades from A-F as indicated by the course syllabus. Grades earned are unweighted.
All STEDY programs lead to industry certification, preparing students for the workforce and/or post-secondary education.
STEDY students are awarded credits for participation in STEDY CTED programs. Upon Completion of the STEDY course each semester, grades will be reported to the student's homeschool and typically count as CTE or Elective credit. Please speak to the student's home high school about how credits will be applied and posted to the student's Transcript.
Central Campus Programs
1 completed course = 1 high school elective credit per semester.
STEDY/AWC Programs
3 AWC credit hours = 0.5 high school credit
6 AWC credit hours = 1 high school credit
AWC transcript will show class credit hours.
